History:

There was an engraving in the Gwalior saying that Nagabhata “crushed the large army of the powerful mechcha king”, as he was the first ruler. There are some original Hindu sources like Inscription of Bauka pratihara in Jodhpur, Inscription of Bhoja pratihara in Gwalior etc. Many of the Past rulers of Rajasthan sustained to use the title of maharaja for social purposes, as this is used as a status symbol.
